It stood outside the great Naval fort Classis Britannica but in 270AD it was demolished by the Romans during construction of a larger fort.

It needs buses to be able to park in York Street so 50 plus can obtain refreshment and visit a shop with a building built on the Roman Lawn.
The shop and catering facilities would generate the income needed to supplement the entry fees.
There is a new set of trustees, including Martina White. She says that the new set of trustees have all the skills needed to be effective and that they are on the same page as the DDC regarding the vision for the Painted House
