Project 2. – The aim is to make the space available to more groups
cinema in the Dover Museum seating
The cinema in the Dover Museum has been closed but was open for the 2024 Annual Dover Film in the first week in March.
There are 2 problems which limit the use of the cinema
1. The Fire Escape because people would gain access to the museum when it is closed
2.The projection room because again it requires access to the museum when it is closed
Both problems can be solved but it requires funds
The Museum has been given the funding to improve access and facilities.
This is a very important amenity space which could be used by many societies, groups and clubs
The Fire Escape could be built on the right hand of the screen and lead out into the staff car park.
Projector could hang from the ceiling or fitted by removing one central seat in the front row. This would give a cable connection as WFI may not allow films to play.
The Rotary Club of Dover were going to payfor a sign but when they heard the cinema was closing they gave this money to the Dover Food Bank. The might agree to fund the sign if the cinema opens
The Fire Escape could be built on the right hand of the screen and lead out into the staff car park.
The Dover Museum has PPL and PRS Music Licences and public liability cover.
There is an expectation that users can pay a fee to use the cinema
